WP 6 leader: Regionalentwicklung Vorarlberg (VLBG)

The project aim of COMUNIS is the creation of appropriate environments for small and medium enterprises (SME) in the Alps and to strengthen the development of peripheral areas as well as the rural-urban relations. Within this WP, pilot initiatives are established and tested.

With the implementation of suitable structures for commercial location development (CLD), joint actions to leverage cultural and social resources and to protect natrural resources will be implemented. The discussion about strenghtening key economic branches and the generation of clusters will have been started.

Expected Outputs

• In at least 3 pilot areas (most probably Leiblachtal, Großwalsertal/AT, Alpsee/DE, Valais/CH) permanent management structures for CLD are in place and business plans defined, including arrangements between the communities. Rules are documented which are created and tested in the test regions and coordinated with key individuals.
• In the other pilot regions, the necessary impetus for the realization of CLD is set. Herewith, the WP 5 strategies show the feasibility of application.
• The knowledge management is established, composed by a freely accessible computer based system for information / knowledge sharing and vivid bi- or trilateral cooperations between pilot regions which consult each other at least for the next two years.
